1996-1997 Annual Report

The Environmental Studies Section has several purposes:

– to link scholars of various disciplines and keep them abreast of current developments in this field;

– to develop and encourage research;

– to disseminate information on environmental developments by sponsoring or participating in prof meetings;

– to seek ways to further the teaching of international environmental studies.

During 1996-97, the members of the various section committees were:

NEWS FROM THE ESS BUSINESS MEETING

The annual business meeting of the ESS was held on April 25, 1996 at the ISA convention in San Diego with section chair Philippe Le Prestre (University of Quebec at Montreal) presiding. Approximately 40 members of the section were present.

NEWS FROM THE ESS BUSINESS MEETING

The annual business meeting of ESS was held on February 24, 1995 at the ISA convention in Chicago with section chair Barbara Jancar-Webster (SUNY-Brockport) presiding. Thirty section mem- bers were present.

Philippe Le Prestre (University of Quebec at Montreal) was elected to a two-year term as ESS chair, replacing Barbara Jancar-Webster, who has served two terms.

Newly elected members of the Executive Committee, whose terms expire in 1997, are:
